Yfory, bydd Pwyllgor Cynllunio Cyngor Caerdydd yn ystyried cais i ddymchwel y Paddle Steamer, sefydliad hanesyddol yn Butetown, ar gyfer tai cymdeithasol. Mae ymgyrchwyr wedi gwneud cais syml i ymgysylltu \u00e2 nhw i ddod o hyd i ffordd o gadw lle i’r caffi ar y safle fel rhan o’r datblygiad. <\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n

Mae’r Paddle Steamer wedi bod yn sefydliad eiconig yn sgw\u00e2r Loudoun ers cenedlaethau. Mae bellach am gael ei ddymchwel, ond mae gan arweinydd y cyngor Huw Thomas y grym i achub y man cyfarfod neilltuol hwn ar gyfer rhai o gymunedau du, hanesyddol Caerdydd.<\/p>\n

Rydym yn croesawu cynlluniau ar gyfer tai cyngor ar y safle, mewn cyfnod lle mae cynghorau ledled Cymru wedi methu’n druenus \u00e2 gartrefu pobl ar restrau aros, sydd yn tyfu’n barhaus. Ond mewn ardal sy’n cael ei hamddifadu’n gyson o’r adnoddau y mae rhannau eraill o’r ddinas yn cymryd yn ganiataol, ni chafwyd unrhyw gydnabyddiaeth o’r hyn y mae’n ei olygu i adeiladu’r unedau yma heb unrhyw le i fusnes fel y Paddle Steamer.<\/div>\n

Gyda hanes hir a lliwgar, mae’r Paddle wedi bod yn fan cyfarfod pwysig yn fwyaf diweddar i gymunedau Somali ac Yemeni hirsefydledig Caerdydd. Mae’n gweini bwydydd halal a diwylliannol briodol mewn amgylchedd di-alcohol. Mae arweinwyr cymunedol a chyfreithwyr yn defnyddio’r caffi’n rheolaidd i gwrdd \u00e2 phreswylwyr bregus i’w cefnogi gyda’u hanghenion cymhleth, o gyngor budd-daliadau’r wladwriaeth i ganllawiau mewnfudo a lloches.<\/div>\n

Bydd cai’r caffi hefyd yn lle priodol i bobl ifanc gyfarfod \u00e2 ffrindiau a chwarae pwl, ac yn anochel yn eu gorfodi i dreulio mwy o amser sbar ar y strydoedd. Heb y caffi, bydd llawer o bobl oedrannus sy’n byw gerllaw yn colli bwyd poeth rheolaidd a’r cyfle i gymdeithasu a chwrdd \u00e2 phobl eraill. Mae’r caffi hefyd wedi cefnogi cymorth elusennol ac wedi cyflenwi bwyd am ddim yn ystod Ramadan.<\/div>\n

Mae trigolion lleol yn gofyn i’r Cyngor ychwanegu lle ar gyfer y caffi at ei gynlluniau ailddatblygu. Cyflwynwyd y cais hwn yn ystod y cyfnod\u00a0 Ymgynghori Cyn Ymgeisio, ond heb unrhyw lwyddiant, ac yn fe’i cefnogwyd gan gannoedd o wrthwynebiadau wedi cwblhau’r cynlluniau. Y cyfan sydd angen i’r Cyngor ei wneud, gan ei fod yn gleient, yw cyfarwyddo’r datblygwr i gynnwys y caffi fel rhan o’r datblygiad – mae’n sefyllfa lle mae pawb ar ei ennill. Rydym yn cael tai newydd sbon i’r gymuned ac yn cadw’r caffi Paddle Steamer hefyd.<\/div>\n
