DESCRIPTION:Please note that the venue for the meeting has moved to CellB (not the Pengwern anymore). \nWe are pleased to announce that Undod’s next general meeting will be in January. \nFollowing the launch of our join page on 13th December we have loads of new members\, and as a result this meeting will be a great opportunity to start drawing together the organisation’s work programme for 2020 and to discuss our development. \nAt the meeting we will\, among other things\, decide on the direction of travel for the next part of our journey\, look at a constitution\, elect co-ordinators\, and discuss our strategy over the coming months. Details will follow but we encourage you to put the day in your diary. \nOrganisations campaigning for Wales\nSome may be aware that there is an unfortunate clash with YesCymru’s annual meeting. We are sorry to those who would have liked to attend both meetings\, and we will strive to ensure the same mistake is not made again. \nAs such it is an opportunity to emphasise once that there is no suggestion of competition with YesCymru. As the Scotland campaign has shown\, there is scope for numerous organisations within the wider campaign\, and where YesCymru is campaigning for the overarching democratic principle of independence for Wales\, we want to offer – and work towards – an ambitious and progressive vision for our country: a Wales that will improve people’s quality of life\, will treat everyone with dignity\, and will respect our environment. \nWe hope through this work to inspire more people to join the movement for independence and force our (supposedly) progressive politicians to do the best for Wales now\, and in the future. \nIn the meantime\, we hope you have a good time during the Christmas season\, and we look forward to a new year and the coming collaboration. \nTravel and accommodation\nMore details will follow this announcement. DESCRIPTION:As Undod we express our solidarity and support for Jamie Bevan on his stand against racism\, bigotry and fascism. \nJamie has been summoned to appear in court on Friday 14th June 2019. \nSupporters are welcome to attend the hearing. \nOn the evening of Wednesday 15th May 2019 Jamie took part in a demonstration against racism\, bigotry and fascism outside a Brexit Party rally held at the Trago Mills site in his hometown\, Merthyr Tudful. \nThat evening\, before the rally was able to begin\, Jamie and others stood deliberately on the site’s access road to block traffic from reaching the venue. They succeeded in delaying the start time of the event\, causing inconvenience to the organisers. Bevan was later arrested by police when he refused to move. \nThe wider demonstration was organised rapidly by residents of Merthyr and surrounding areas in the days preceding the rally. Participants were volunteers from a mixture of backgrounds\, including anti-racists\, anti-fascists\, Welsh nationalists and people who had voted remain and leave in the EU referendum of 2016. \nJamie will appear at Merthyr Magistrates’ Court on Friday 14th June 2019 at 9AM to answer the charge of “obstructing a public highway”. \nAt the hearing Jamie will be pleading guilty to this specific charge while declaring opposition to racism and fascism. \nJamie said: “A large proportion of people in Merthyr were appalled to see such a rally happen in their town. The intention of my action was to declare that not everyone in Merthyr supports the toxic fascist thinking of the extreme right. We believe in the freedom to speak but that freedom comes with responsibility. Farage and his crew come to deprived areas like Merthyr because they see us as easy targets. The damage and divisions they have created in our communities are heartbreaking. We oppose racism and inequality at all levels with every means open to us.”

DESCRIPTION:Members of Undod\, anybody who also wishes to take part\, will be holding a non-violent protest for Kurdish rights\, at the same time as hundreds of other campaigners. \nCome to the TUI shop (124 High Street\, Merthyr Tudfil\, CF47 8BL). Between 10am and 11am we will be distributing leaflets calling on people to boycott Turkey as a holiday destination until its government fully respects the rights of Kurdish people.
